Ancram is located in the south eastern corner of Columbia County. Like most of the region there is a Livingston connection. The town was named after the Livingston family home located in Scotland
The population is under 2000 as reported by the 2000 census.
There are many large parcels in the area so it is not uncommon to see horse farms. This is also a popular area for people looking for second homes on large private acres.
Located near Massachusetts and a short ride to Pine Plains in Dutchess County and Hudson in Columbia County.
